Trust Issues | The Exchange Rate Part 3 | Lehi
It’s hard to fund the trust when you have trust ISSUES.
ABUSE and MISUSE create trust issues.
Your CAPACITY to influence will never out pace your ability to trust.
Question: Can I trust Jesus?
Luke 24:36-44 While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38 He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” 40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41 And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate it in their presence. 44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”
Luke 9:22 And he said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”
Luke 9:43-44 While everyone was marveling at all that Jesus did, he said to his disciples, 44 “Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men.” 45 But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.
Ignoring questions is not faith; that’s FEAR.
Luke 18:31-34 Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. 32 He will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him and spit on him; 33 they will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.” The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.
Ignoring evidence is not faith; that’s FOOLISH.
The resurrection is the ultimate DEMONSTRATION that Jesus can be trusted.
Biblical faith is based on knowledge, not wishing or blind leaps. Knowledge builds confidence and confidence leads to trust. The kind of faith God is interested in is not wishing. It’s trust based on knowing, sure confidence grounded in evidence. –Greg Koukl
First Step: I TRUST that Jesus is who he says he is.
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists…
Next Step: I TRUST that Jesus is for me.
Hebrews 11:6 ... and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Luke 24:49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
BOTTOM LINE: Increasing INFLUENCE is directly related to increasing TRUST.
Acts 20:35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' "
