The less space between your PACE and your LIMITS the less PEACE.
Mark 10:21-22 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 22 At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
Jesus gets in to our finances because our finances get in our WAY with Jesus.
Your STANDARD of living ≠ your QUALITY of life.
It’s easy to raise your standard of living with DEBT.
It’s difficult to raise your quality of life through DISCIPLINE.
Question: Do you think God is more interested in your standard of living or your quality of life?
Reality Check #1: Someone has decided the PERCENTAGE you live on.
Proverbs 27:23-24 Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations.
Reality Check #2: More money doesn’t mean no more WORRY.
Proverbs 30:8-9 Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. 9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, “Who is the LORD?” Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.
Reality Check #3: The money you make will never be enough unless you decide that the money you make now, is ENOUGH.
Ecclesiastes 5:10-11 Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless. As goods increase, so do those who consume them. And what benefit are they to the owner except to feast his eyes on them?
Matthew 6:28-33 Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. "But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! "Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?' "For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
It’s irrational to trust God with your ETERNITY but not MONEY.
2 Corinthians 9:5 So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to visit you in advance and finish the arrangements for the generous gift you had promised. Then it will be ready as a generous gift, not as one grudgingly given.
BOTTOM LINE: The discipline of giving is a GIFT to you and others.
