In Heaven As It Is On Earth | Part 4: The Good Place | Draper

2 Corinthians 5:6-10

2 Corinthians 5:6-10 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord.[7] For we live by faith, not by sight.[8] We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.[9] So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.[10] For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether goodor bad.

Heaven is more than a DESTINATION; it’s a MOTIVATION.

QUESTION:  If I’m saved by what Jesus has done, will I really be judged for what I do?

2 Corinthians 5:14  For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.

Ephesians 2:8-10  For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; [9] not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. [10] For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

I can’t EARN anything when I’ve been GIVEN everything.

Romans 8:1-2  Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,[2] because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

I won’t be PUNISHED for what I do wrong, but maybe I’m REWARDED for what I do right.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15  For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.[12] If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw,[13] their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work.[14] If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward.[15] If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.

My reward is not about EARNINGwhat I get but INVESTINGwhat I’ve been given.

1 Corinthians 3:14-15  If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward.[15] If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.

In that moment, there won’t be CONDEMNATION but there may be DISAPPOINTMENT.

QUESTION:  How do I know the difference between worthwhile and worthless?

Matthew 22:37-40- Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[38] This is the first and greatest commandment.[39] And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[40] All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

If it’s not good for them, it’s a sin.  –Andy Stanley

2 Corinthians 5:14  For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.

BOTTOM LINE: If it’s GOOD for them, it’s GOLD to Him.

Matthew 25:19-21 Now after a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them. And the one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying, ‘Master, you entrusted five talents to me; see, I have gained five more talents.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave; you were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things, enter into the joy of your master.
