Face the Music
Imagine | Face the Music Part 5 | St. George
Series Thesis: Every song is a SERMON.
Song Thesis: If we could all IMAGINE life without AUTHORITY, we would naturally experience Utopia.
Question: Can we really create a new reality simply by imagining / visualizing?
“If you operate according to some very simple laws, the imaginary event will become real . . . The better you learn to visualize, the more powerful will be your experience with Mind Control.” – Joe Silva (Silva Mind Control founder)
"Like attracts like. In its simplest form, this means that if you learn to harness the power of positive thoughts, you’ll attract more positive circumstances. However, if you’re negative, you’ll attract more negativity and pain. At first glance, you might think this describes Karma but in fact the two concepts are very different. With Karma, it is believed that if you do 'good,' you will be rewarded; if you do 'bad,' you will be punished. With the law of attraction, though, blessings are entirely up to you. Think positively and you will call positive things to you. If you have a cynical, insecure, or pessimistic worldview, your negativity will be a self-inflicted, self-fulfilling prophecy. Like attracts like." – Sofie Angevaare (The Power of Positive Thoughts)
Answer: We can’t change REALITY by simply changing our PERCEPTION of it.
Question: Would eliminating Religious, Government and Corporate institutions fix what is wrong with the world today?
Answer: No. It is not only IMPOSSIBLE to create a utopia on earth, but attempts to do so have proven to be DISASTROUS.
Key Observation: John Lennon was looking for what we all long for but seriously underestimated the effects of SIN.
“Modern people like to see freedom as the complete absence of any constraints. But think of a fish. Because a fish absorbs oxygen from water, not air, it is free only if it is restricted to water. If a fish is ‘freed’ from the river and put on the grass to explore, its freedom to move and soon even to live is destroyed. The fish is not more free, but less free, if it cannot honor the reality of its nature. The same is true with airplanes and birds. If they violate the laws of aerodynamics, they will crash into the ground. But if they follow them, they will ascend and soar. The same is true in many areas of life: Freedom is not so much the absence of restrictions as finding the right ones, those that fit with the realities of our own nature and those of the world.” – Tim Keller, Every Good Endeavor
Big Idea: The path to what we all long for is through SUBMISSION to Christ as King.
"Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, 'Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.' For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem" (Isaiah 2:2–3).
