Help: "I don't feel connected" - Lehi
Everyone’s NORMAL until you get to KNOW them.
UNIVERSAL TRUTH: We long to BELONG.
The need to belong is a fundamental human need to form and maintain at least a minimum amount of lasting, positive, and significant interpersonal relationships. Satisfying this need requires (a) frequent, positive interactions with the same individuals, and (b) engaging in these interactions within a framework of long-term, stable care and concern. -Roy Baumeister and Mark Leary
THINK ABOUT IT: The place you feel you most belong will shape the person you BECOME.
OBSERVATION #1: You can’t have community without COMMITMENT.
1 Timothy 5:1-2 Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, 2 older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.
OBSERVATION #2: Where you serve and where you sacrifice will feel like FAMILY.
John 13:33-35 My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
THE KEY TO CONNECTION: LOVE and be loved. SERVE and be served.
Romans 12:3-5 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
OBSERVATION #3: If I belong to HIM then I belong to THEM.
